At the end of each season, each playoff team and the team that is ultimately crowned the World Series champions gets to take a share of the MLB’s revenue in the World Series. The league shares a portion of its prize money with the team, and the team splits the portion among the players. With record-breaking ratings for this year’s World Series, how much will the Dodger’s players make from this prize pool?
Although this year’s World Series prize money is yet to be confirmed, experts are predicting that the Dodgers players could each take home a record-setting share of the postseason pool.
How Does the Postseason Pool Work?
According to the MLB, the pool,
“is formed from 50 percent of the gate receipts from the Wild Card Games; 60 percent of the gate receipts from the first three games of the Division Series; 60 percent of the gate receipts from the first four games of the League Championship Series; and 60 percent of the gate receipts from the first four games of the World Series.”
The portion size of the prize pool depends on how far each team advanced in the playoffs. The World Series winners gets the largest portion, approximately 36 percent while the runner up receives 24 percent.
The players on each team then votes on how the prize money will be shared among the individual players.
The Prediction
In 2024, a record-breaking 129 million prize pool was shared among the 12 playoff teams. The Dodgers divided their prize money into 79 full shares, $477,440.70 per person. This season, the predictions are that the prize pool will break the previous record and each player will receive a higher prize money than the 477 thousand from last season, with predictions going as high as approximately $500,000 per person.
This is thanks to the large ticket revenues the Dodgers made in 2025. The Dodgers had the highest per-game ticket revenue in the MLB this season, with one of the highest tickets prices in the MLB and one of the most filled stadiums throughout the season.
