While the main goals for Westbrook now are still to help the team win, there are still lots of fun and incredible records the former MVP is looking to break next season.
As the well-known all-time leader for triple-doubles, Westbrook piled his total triple double up to a whopping 198 last season. If he stays healthy as always for next season, he may become the first player in NBA history to record over 200 triple-doubles. This would be a record that will certainly stand for a long time. To put that in perspective, that is 1 triple double every 5 games played.
Though we all know about the historical triple double records he’s achieved, there’s another record that might just be crazier. Entering the 2023-24 season with 24,457 career points and 7,964 career rebounds, Westbrook will likely reach both 25,000 points and 8,000 career rebounds next season.
If he does, he will join Lebron James as the only players in NBA history with at least 25,000 points, 9,000 assists, and 8,000 rebounds. This shows just how all-around and versatile his game is. To put this in perspective, one of the most all-around forwards in NBA history Larry Bird retired with 21,791 points, 5695 assists, and 8974 rebounds.
This record makes Westbrook surpass Allen Iverson and Dwayne Wade in Points, Isiah Thomas in Assists, and Alonzo Mourning, Scottie Pippen, and Kevin Mchale in Rebounds.
