Despite being the few players on the Clippers to be fully healthy for the majority of the season, Norman Powell should be traded. Here’s why
Reason 1
The Clippers are desperately trying to contend right now, and there aren’t much prime double-digit scoring players who could be traded for bigger pieces. Norman Powell is certainly one of them. If the Clippers don’t prove themselves in the next 2-3 seasons, the Clippers may need to head in the other direction.
Reason 2
Although they’re often side-lined with injuries, when healthy, the Super-star duo of Kawhi Leonard (who is currently going through a critical injury) and Paul George could always be a Top 5 duo when playing at their best level. With role players like KJ Martin, Robert Covington, Terance Mann and more, the Lakers could still play at a high level without Powell. In this case, it would make a lot of sense to flip Norman Powell and multiple assets for a bigger name.
Trade 1

Clippers Trade: Norman Powell, Bones Hyland, Amir Coffey, Kenyon Martin Jr, 2028 first-round pick (protected) and a 2030 first-round pick
Hawks Trade: Dejounte Murrray, Patty Mills (For Salary)
Yes, the Clippers could trade for Dejounte Murray. However, this trade can only happen after January as Dejounte has agreed on an extension. As the Hawks’ duo have proved to be bad fits together, the Hawks could look to trade the former all-star for multiple assets and picks. The Hawks would agree as they certainly acquires more depth and they can get multiple picks out of the Clippers while only having to trade Dejounte Murray, who doesn’t fit well next to Trae Young. The Clippers could still have lots of depth after the trade. Overall, The trio of Kawhi, PG, and Dejounte could dominate most teams.
Trade 2

Clippers Trade: Norman Powell, Nicolas Batum, Terance Mann, Brandon Boston Jr., a 2028 first-round pick (protected) and a 2030 first-round pick
76ers Trade: James harden, Furkan Korkmaz
As we all know, the 76ers have recently shut down trade offers for James Harden, as they can’t get the best value. However, if James Harden is certainly signing with another team next summer and the duo of Harden and Embiid won’t last long in next season’s playoffs anyways. With this realistic trade, it would be hard for the 76ers to say no, as they get multiple good role players to pair along Embiid and Maxey and gets 2 extremely valuable picks. Even if the 76ers are looking to contend, they can’t always flip the new assets and their current assets again.
Trade 3

Clippers Trade: Norman Powell
Nets Trade: Dorian Finney-Smith, Cam Thomas, and a 2025 first-round pick.
Although Brooklyn has to trade 2 good young players and a pick here, the acquisition of Norman Powell would solidify the Nets rankings and depth as one of the best. The core of Norman Powell next to Bridges, Claxton, and Cam Johnson can be one of the best in the east, considering the assets they still can flip.
For the Clippers, they could easily use these 2 players and the pick by adding more picks and players to trade for a player like Dejounte Murray or Fred Vanvleet.
More Targets
Below are some players the Clippers could target with their trade pieces:
- Clint Capela (Atlanta Hawks) – Hawks could get rid of the contract for depth
- Fred Vanvleet (Houston Rockets) – Clippers has salaries to trade up for his contract
- Steven Adams (Memphis Grizzlies) – The Grizzlies aren’t playing him much, but he could be a key for the Clippers with Russell Westbrook
- Chris Paul (Golden State Warriors) – CP fits the Clippers timeline,Warriors can add depth, which they certainly needs
- De’Anthony Melton (Philadelphia 76ers) – Both gets depth and fills their weakness
