Gilbert Arenas
Coming off last season, Westbrook inked a two year deal with the Clippers, a contract known to be ‘one of the best’ around the league. Although there were uncertainty and questions around whether Westbrook will resign, Arenas claims that the Clippers took this as their top priority this offseason, “especially for Ty Lue”.
“I talked to Ty Lue,” … “He said, ‘We gave him everything we had. He didn’t want to go nowhere, and we’re glad he didn’t.’”
– Gilbert Arenas on his podcast Gil’s Arena
Arenas says the reason is because of how fast Westbrook proved his importance on the team and his outstanding performance with the team.

“We’ve never had a leader, and he is our leader,”
– Arenas claimed Ty Lue said
Stephen Curry
“One thing about Russ, no matter what people say about him or how he’s playing, he competes. I know [the Clippers] love that about him. Every night he shows up and plays hard. That’s something you can’t teach. It’s kind of a lost art these days.”

Darvin Ham
“And I told Russ, I said—and shout out to Russ, man. He takes a lot of blame, and everybody seems to want to talk stuff about him … but some of the stuff he has to endure, and he’s still a very, very highly capable basketball player. I appreciate him for just giving it a chance and complying with what I wanted to do and just taking a bullet for the team,”
