Finishing the playoffs with some disappointing losses, the Warriors dynasty was speculated to be ‘over’. There were questions of: Is the dynasty over? Will Draymond Green leave the Warriors? And much more. However, the Warriors successfully brought back the veteran core and made some huge moves this offseason. Are there possibilities for a 5th ring? These are the biggest moves the Golden State Warriors made during the NBA Free Agency

1. Bringing Back Draymond Green
After a playoff disappointment, rumors were flying all around the NBA on the Warriors core potentially breaking up or the dynasty ending. So what did the Warriors do? The Warriors General Manager Bob Myers stepped down for a change of front office and the new GM managed to bring back Draymond Green and the veteran core. Draymond Green accepted a 4 years/100 million contract to return to the Golden State Warriors.
11. Trades
What was the biggest trade this offseason? Well, this trade the Warriors made is certainly in the conversation. As the Warriors salary tax was about to surpass another all-time high, the Warriors were certain to trade one of their main players.
Warriors Receive: Chris Paul
Wizards Receive:
- Patrick Baldwin Jr.
- Jordan Poole
- Ryan Rollins
- 2027 second-round pick
- 2030 first-round pick (top 20 protected)
- Cash considerations
With this trade, the Warriors managed to clear off one of the big contracts off the team and brought in veteran Chris Paul on an expiring deal. Many believes that this trade was to make a ‘final run for the 5th ring’. Despite bringing the former All-NBA point guard, there were a lot of questions the long history between the Warriors players and Chris Paul. There were also concerns of the future starting lineup after bringing in Chris Paul.
From the Warriors perspective, this trade seems to be worth it, as they had to trade Jordan Poole one way or the other. At the same time, Chris Paul is still a decent asset that they could look to flip by the trade deadline next season. On the other hand, the Warriors had to give up their 2030 first-round pick (top 20 protected), which is a long time from now. However, this pick might sneakily be one of the most valuable picks in the NBA. This is because by 2030, Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green would all be either retired or nearly retiring. This makes the pick exceptionally valuable since the Warriors Dynasty would certainly be over by then, unless they figure out a way to create a second dynasty.
111. Signings
As one of the busiest teams this offseason, the Warriors signed a few smaller names to the team to add depth to their team. As one of the thinnest team last season, it was clear the Warriors had to add depth to their roster this offseason, and these signings will certainly help with depth.
- Dario Saric, 1 year/2.7 million, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN
- Corey Joseph, 1 year/3.1 million, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN
- Brandin Podziemski and Trayce Jackson-Davis (Rookie Contracts)
Conclusion
This eventful offseason for the Warriors changed a lot of the Warriors roster. They brought in some useful components and former All-Star Chris Paul. Yet, they did lose Donte Divincenzo to the Knicks. Nevertheless, the starting lineup of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins, Draymond Green, and Kevon Looney was rated as one of the best lienups last season, despite finishing the regular season as the 6th seed in the West. So, Will the Dynasty Continue? Well, it looks like as long as the core players maintain on the same level of play for the next few seasons and fits well with Chris Paul, the Warriors will continue to be a contending team in the west for the next 2-3 years.
